SO i just lost 2 hours of writing this post because i only have a WiFi hotspot ugh that will teach me to save things in word vs. online :(
SO i just lost 2 hours of writing this post because i only have a WiFi hotspot ugh that will teach me to save things in word vs. online :(

Here are the things I have learned since I started this journey towards my dream or buying some land and building a tiny home.
My ex and I didn’t work out and I went to visit my parents in IL. My middle son traveled with me and that was a blessing! I sure wish I would have spent much more time experiencing life with my kids vs. casing the so called American Dream which lead me to being broke and broken honestly.
After visiting family for a few months I longed to get back to the west coast. My dream was to live on the Oregon coast in the forest by the ocean. That dream for now has been put on hold but I am a step closer living in west coast WA near Seattle.
Upon getting back to the northwest I bought an RV and here are some ideas about things you should look for when buying an rv:
- Check underneath
- Check holding tanks are secure and no leaks
- Check tires, hitch, lights, & tabs
- Check all internal appliances and ensure they work completely
- Ask the people to turn everything on and show you it works
- Ask the people who are selling it to put it on a hitch and tow it in front of you and take it off the hitch
- Hook a hose up and electric up and really ensure things work
- Flush the potty turn on water faucets and stay there to check out that the fridge and freezer get cold.
- Look at the roof and make sure there are no leaks
- Check out the inside really well to see there are no leaks
- It is best if you can go view the rv trailer on a rainy day to help ensure this
- Check that all the windows and vents open and close wel
- Check that the holding tanks drain like they should
These are all my lessons learned because I rushed into this and did not do the above.
- Luckily I have electricity! Yay!
- I do not have a working fridge so I have to keep ice in the freezer daily to have cold food storage and it is not much space so luckily it is just me (A slightly painful reminder that I am sometimes lonely after a 15 year relationship not too many people knew i was in one lol not sure you could say i was ugh :(
- I have no running water but that is because the new space I am rented I have not gotten it hooked up yet
- I use about 3-5 gallons of water per day to clean with (I fill these up with a hose at the pump well) and 1 gallon of water to drink (I buy drinking water for now but plan to buy a water filter picture) I store about 10 gallons of water in jugs under my trailer and keep a couple gallons under the sink (one for drinking one for cleaning.)
- I use an electric kettle (Great advise I got from some wonderful ladies I met during my first 2 very emotionally rough weeks of realizing I was going to be single for a while and have to do this all on my own)
- I get my holding tanks serviced because I work fulltime and with everything else getting a potable grey/black water rolling tank was a bit overwhelming considering everything else.
- I really miss having internet service ( something I plan to have installed but it will be a month before I can afford to have Comcast come do so)
- I have no idea if my water heater works so I use the electric kettle to heat water
- I have a gym membership close by! This is how I stay clean (hot showers) not to mention the health benefits
- My stove works as long as I keep the propane tanks filled so I am able to cook which is something I like to do.
- Since I am not traveling around with the RV right now I don’t need fancy nice tires but once I do travel with it I will need to get some.
- My roof vent in the bedroom won’t close and rain leaks in which has been a pain these past few rainy days

5 Things I miss the most about the so called regular American
lifestyle & something I wish i had in my life.
- Internet! (I have electric or that would be number one on the list)
- A Bathtub
- Sharing meals I cook
- My kitties and my big doggie (she passed away, my ex has my kitties)
- Cuddling & being hugged tight and kissed gently. (Someday I hope to find this and maybe have it be for real the next time around, yup I’m bitter right now)
5 things I am most grateful right now
Now I am going to re type the longer version of the story I had worked on for 2
hours and lost because of my internet connectivity. The longer version I will leave off of my
blog for now since I am hoping to maybe write a semi true but fictional zombie apocalyptic
version of my life and this path I am on now. SO far it is a great story I am bummed
I lost 2 hours’ worth but it’s a rainy day and one of the more peaceful things
of living in an rv trailer is listening to the rain on the roof especially when
you do not have internet because you quickly learn you will use up all your
wifi data watching Netflix or YouTube.
